Purnell quickly made its mark on the landscape of contemporary high watchmaking in 2020 when the company debuted its unmistakable Spherion, the world’s fastest triple-axis tourbillon.
To create the record-setting mechanism, Purnell partnered with Eric Coudray, the Mozart of multi-axis tourbillons and winner of the 2012 Prix Gaïa. He invented the Spherion and the Double Spherion, mechanisms found in Purnell’s Escape Primo and Escape II collections.
A world premiere design, the Spherion has three tourbillon cages, each one rotating at a different speed – 8, 16, and 30 seconds. Visually stunning, it is a masterpiece both mechanically and aesthetically. Its futuristic take on the 220-year-old tourbillon upholds Purnell’s vow only to produce tourbillon movements. It’s also a clear expression of Purnell’s unique horological point of view, which focuses more on the future than the past.
