Oris announces the return of the ProPilot GMT, the watch for high-flying, time zone-crossing pilots. The new model features a stealthy grey-PVD-plated stainless steel 41.5mm case, a second time zone indicator, a pulsometer scale, and a punchy gradient red dial.

Oris has been making pilot’s watches for more than a century. In 1938, it released the Big Crown, a piece with an oversized crown designed for use by gloved airmen that’s been in production ever since. The ProPilot takes the spirit of that model (and its crown) into new territory, mixing materials, finishes, and functions to deliver ultra-reliable contemporary pilot’s watches.

The ProPilot GMT’s second time zone is indicated by a central hand finished with a red pointer. The bezel pulsometer scale for measuring heart rates is inspired by relationships Oris has with some of the world’s most pioneering aeromedical organizations. Legibility is always paramount in a pilot’s watch. The matte grey-PVD-plated finish offsets cockpit glare, while bright lume on the hands and applied indices makes them pop against the high-contrast gradient red dial, also the color of adventure. The watch is powered by an automatic mechanical movement with a 42-hour power reserve and comes on a black textile strap with a red leather lining, and Oris’s patented ‘Lift’ clasp, inspired by commercial airliner seatbelt buckles.
